Site Reliability Engineer

Location: Springfield, VA

Azimuth Corporation is seeking a qualified Site Reliability Engineer to provide expert onsite support to a government customer in the Springfield, VA area. The ideal candidate will take ownership of RLEWAN and HARLEM availability, feature performance, and their deployments. The Research Lab Environment Wide Area Network (RLEWAN) project is the effort to establish highspeed circuits between all RLE facilities.

Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Attend weekly team standup, and monthly briefings with team leadership.
  • Provide requested status to Task Coordinator.
  • Implement and maintain RLEWAN Monitoring App plugins monitoring High Performance Computing (HPC) and other system on prem resources.
  • Coordinate and integrate with broader continual monitoring services.
  • Implement and maintain HARLEM, ManageIQ (MIQ), RLEWAN Monitoring App on-prem components as designated by the Product Owner.
  • Work with Security Engineer to provide and resolve on-premises related security relevant technical details during Authority to Operate (ATO) of HARLEM, RLEWAN Monitoring Application, Kubernetes, and their sub components.
  • Interact with the RLE Team using designated GEOINT Services tooling as designated by the Product Owner.
  • Record status updates daily in designated GEOINT Services tooling designated by the Product Owner.
  • Use existing Unclassified Commercial Cloud Service (UC2S) Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines as a guide to implement like configuration on other domains/environments as designated by the Product Owner.
  • Sustain/improve existing HARLEM, MIQ, RLEWAN Monitoring App CI/CD pipelines.
  • Patch and add features to HARLEM, MIQ, RLEWAN Monitoring App as designated by the Product Owner.
  • Interact with users/consumers for HARLEM, MIQ, RLEWAN Monitoring App bug work-off using GEOINT Services tooling as designated by the Product Owner.
  • Work with the RLE Security Engineer to provide and resolve related security relevant technical details for security appliances.
  • Work in existing security tools/processes to document HARLEM, RLEWAN Monitoring Application, Network Appliances and their sub components.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipeline automating security and networking appliance configuration.
  • Interact with the Cyber OPS Team.
  • Sustain/improve security appliance configuration for HARLEM, MIQ, RLEWAN Monitoring App traffic, and other designated RLE project traffic.
  • Develop, design, and install hardware, software, and open-source technology solutions into the RLEWAN and HARLEM framework.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree and 10 years relevant experience; OR MA/MS degree and 8 years relevant experience; OR PhD degree and 5 years relevant experience
  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience submitting, monitoring, and ensuring completion of:
    • Size, Weight & Power (SWAP) requests to install computer hardware (at least 1 approved SWAP)
    • Request for Security Impacts Determinations (SIDRs) or equivalent (at least 1 approved SIDR)
    • Information Technology (IT) computer customer service requests (at least 2)
    • Firewall Change Requests (FCRs) for Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret Commercial Cloud Service (from beginning to end, at least 1 UC2S/SC2S and 1 TC2S FCR)
    • ATO processes with RLE Security, DAOR, and SCA
    • System, architecture, network, and communication status checking through Command Line Interfaces (CLI) (1 year of experience)
    • Investigations and code reviews using GITLAB (name of a public domain (Internet) code storage and distribution service) website user interfaces
    • Problem resolution report investigations using ThreadFix website user interfaces
  • Experience using and completing work and tasks using:
    • GITLAB CI/CD pipelines
    • Ansible (1 year of experience)
    • Terraform (1 year of experience)
    • Docker engine installation and administration (1 year of experience)
    • RLE HPC command line interface tools (1 year of experience)
  • Experience administering and deploying:
    • Linux operating systems with Centos and Red Hat (7) computers and networks (3 years of experience)
    • BareMetal (2 years of experience)
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and ability to work independently and as a team
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • CI Poly may be required.

Physical Requirements / Travel

  • Must be able to work in an office environment at a desk and computer.
  • May travel ~10% to conferences, program reviews, industry meetings, or other collaborative events. Most or all travel would be CONUS.
