Historian

Department: Operations Support
Location: Bethesda, MD

Azimuth Corporation is seeking a talented Historian to join our Bethesda, MD area team. The ideal candidate will provide Historical / Archival support for our education and training oversight program. Azimuth provides training, curriculum policy planning and development expertise in support of our government customers.
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide input for Department level guidance and policy and coordinating efforts with OUSD (I&S) staff, Combatant Commands, Military Services, and Defense Agencies.
  • Provide support to all aspects of the community education and training council (CETC), to include establishing and documenting processes, developing reference materials, and participating in CETC activities.
  • Develop and maintain a best practice repository to support Department training and education activities, programs, and policy.
  • Apply expert knowledge of processes for archiving information, training materials, and scenarios to support a viable overarching force management program.
  • Develop recommendations for alternatives, including changes in resource allocations or policy using analytically derived, empirically supported, and quantitative basis for decisions regarding education and training initiatives.
  • Participation, possibly in both writing and review, in the bid and proposal process for Azimuth’s strategic growth portfolio.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Writing, English, Education, Criminal Justice, International Relations, Behavioral Psychology, Business Administration AND 10+ years of experience.
  • 10 years’ experience in the IC community, preferably in Psyops Operations, Military Deception (MILDEC), Information Operations (IO) and Joint Planning
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Historical writing experience.
  • Analytic methodology and technique development experience.
  • 5 years of experience within a COCOM and/or Service levels, to include two years working operational efforts.
  • Certification in archiving, records management, or the equivalent, preferably with DOD, ie Agency Records Officer Credential
  • 2 years of experience with Service Career Development Programs

Physical Requirements / Travel

  • Must be able to work in an office environment at a desk and computer.
  • May travel ~10% to conferences, program reviews, industry meetings, or other collaborative events. Most or all travel would be CONUS.
